Caffè Borbone Compostable Capsules: everyday taste, in a simple gesture

Every Caffè Borbone compostable capsule comes from a selection of 100% Arabica coffee and a roast designed to enhance its aroma, body and flavour.

Le Compostabili capsules are certified by the CIC (Italian Composters Consortium) and made from compostable biopolymer, with a filter paper top.

100% Arabica Blend

For the Le Compostabili line we chose a 100% Arabica blend obtained from a selection of coffees from Central America, South America and Africa.

The result is a coffee with an elegant, lingering aroma and sweet, round notes that enhance the pleasure of every sip. With an intensity of 6/10, it is ideal for those who prefer a balanced, delicate espresso to enjoy at any time of the day.

How the Compostable Capsules are made

Every element of the packaging is designed to perform a specific function.

The capsule

The capsule is made from compostable biopolymer with a filter paper top and is certified by the CIC (Italian Composters Consortium). After use, it can be disposed of in the organic waste collection according to your local municipality's guidelines.

The Freshness-Saving Wrap

Each capsule is individually protected by a recyclable plastic wrapper that helps preserve aroma and fragrance until the moment of use. Once opened, the wrap goes in the plastic recycling.

The packaging

The box is made from FSC®-certified paper and goes in the paper recycling.

How should I sort the packaging materials for recycling?
The box goes in the paper recycling, the Freshness-Saving Wrap in the plastic recycling and the used capsule in the organic waste collection, always following your local council's guidelines.
Why do you use a plastic wrapper for a compostable capsule?
Compostable materials are naturally more permeable to air than traditional capsules. The Freshness-Saving Wrap, made of recyclable plastic, helps protect the coffee from oxygen and preserve its aroma and fragrance until the moment of extraction.
What type of extraction is recommended for this blend?
The 100% Arabica blend shows its qualities best with a short extraction. That's why we recommend Espresso or Ristretto, between 25 and 30 ml.

The compostable pods for infusions and instant beverages, the 44 mm ESE coffee pods, and the compostable coffee capsules* are industrially compostable and CIC® certified.
